We are the Ice Diggers, a team that is taking on the Break the Ice Challenge. The Break the Ice Challenge is a NASA based initiative challenging teams from around the world to ideate, design, build, and test a rover built to break up icy lunar regolith simulant for a potential future mining operation on the Moon’s poles. Our team consists of engineers from Lunar Outpost and the Space Resources and other departments at the Colorado School of Mines. Lunar Outpost designed and built the rover, and the Mines team designed and built the breaking mechanism and scoop as well as created the test plan for our 15 day continuous test. Here you will find live streams of our tests between 09/08/2023 and 09/23/2023.
